Build a Lovable Clone: AI App Builder
Build the machine behind AI app builders: an agent that plans, writes files, runs commands, reads its own errors and fixes them, in a sandbox you throw away.
What you will learn
- Read a real AI generated app end to end and name every piece in it
- Tell the public browser context from the secure server context, and why that line is the whole security model
- Explain why a build cannot be a normal web request, and what to use instead
- Understand why AI written code never runs on your own server
- Build the agent loop itself: read, write, run, check, retry, with real tools
- Use durable execution so a four minute build survives a deploy, crash or timeout
- Run generated code in disposable sandboxes with E2B
- Justify every choice in the stack: Next.js, Neon, tRPC, Inngest, AgentKit, Clerk
- Wire auth and credit based billing, so you are not paying for strangers' builds
- Self host the bigger version, with skills and design systems so output stays on brand
Curriculum
- What You Are Building, and Why
- What a Lovable App Actually Is
- The Same Four Pieces, Every Single Time
- The Four Parts of the Builder Itself
- Why the Build Cannot Be a Normal Web Request
- Why AI Code Never Runs on Your Server
- Where State Lives, and Why Bugs Hide There
- It Is Not the Model, It Is the System
- Get the Codebase, Then We Read It Together
Requirements
- You can read code and have shipped something before. This is not a beginners course
- JavaScript or TypeScript, without needing to be expert at it
- Accounts for Neon, Clerk, E2B, Inngest and a model provider, mostly free to start
- A budget for sandbox time and model calls once you start building for real
About this course
Lovable does one thing that looks like magic. You type a sentence and thirty seconds later there is a working app with a database, authentication and a URL you can send to someone. This course builds that machine, not a clone of the marketing page.
The surprising part comes first. The AI does not write code into your app, it writes into a computer that does not exist yet. A sandbox boots, the agent works inside it, and the machine is destroyed when it finishes. Everything difficult about this course lives in that sentence.
The first module has no code in it and is the one that makes the rest obvious. You read a real generated app, then work through the four architectural problems and why each has only one sensible answer.
Then you build. Every technology is argued for rather than listed, you get it running and watch a build happen from the inside, and the final module is the serious version: self hosted, with reusable skills and design systems so every app it produces is on brand instead of generic.
The reason to build this rather than subscribe is not only cost. An AI app builder is the most complete example there is of an agent doing real work, and once you have built the loop, tool calling and agent architecture stop being buzzwords. After that you can point it at one industry instead of competing with funded general purpose products.
Who this course is for
- Developers who want to build AI products rather than AI demos
- Anyone who has used Lovable, Bolt or v0 and wanted to know what happens while the spinner spins
- Founders and agency owners who want a builder aimed at one industry
- Engineers who need a real example of agents, tool calling and durable execution together
Stop shipping demos.
